A message to our shoppers, donors and those we serve

March 19, 2020 |

Memphis Goodwill continues to work hard on our ongoing response to the coronavirus pandemic while supporting our employees and the communities we serve during this unprecedented public health event.  We continue to monitor and assess guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Tennessee Department of Health related to the COVID-19 virus.

With these guidelines in mind and amid the call for increased social distancing to help contain the virus, we are evaluating our store operations daily. We want to keep our customers and donors, employees, and the communities we serve as safe as possible, and we have taken measures to ensure that our employees are following hygiene and cleaning guidelines from the CDC. We provide masks, gloves and disinfectant supplies as regularly-stocked items at all of our locations year-round.

Many of our customers and donors are aware of our mission and have asked how we will continue to support our employees during these uncertain times.  While there are difficult decisions to be made, we are working with our employees to help them access information on their health & wellness benefits, and proactively working to remove barriers to additional services they may need. As further guidance is issued by state and local governments – possibly including recommended closures – we will take the necessary actions to comply. We are also deeply committed to identifying the options and support Goodwill can provide to our employees during this disruption.

Our ability to maintain a safe and functioning work environment is critical to the continued advancement of our mission. To do this, we rely greatly on the donations of the generous citizens of the Mid-South. Your support has made – and will continue to make – our communities stronger.

These are truly unprecedented times, and we will continue to learn and adapt to this situation daily, and we will provide updates as the situation unfolds.

Yours in Goodwill,

Tony Martini, CEO & President
