“Penny” Hardaway to Be Inducted into National High School Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Penny Hardaway!
University of Memphis basketball legend, NBA great and Memphis Goodwill Board Member Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway will be inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame on July 2. He is the first athlete from Tennessee to be selected for the honor. Hardaway ended his career at Treadwell High School with a total of 3,039 points, averaging 32.2 points per game during his junior year. He scored 1,289 points in one season, a record that still stands today. After college, Hardaway played 15 years in the NBA, winning an Olympic gold medal in the 1996 summer Olympics.
